Since 2020, the Internet Society’s Measuring the Internet project and its primary product, Pulse, have established themselves as trusted sources of data-driven insight into the Internet’s availability, evolution, and resilience.

The project’s primary focus in the past five years has been developing the Pulse website as a warehouse and means for users to understand and use data and analysis related to these issues for their research and advocacy purposes. This will continue to be the primary focus for the next five years. However, more resources will be put towards extending the reach of Pulse and tailoring it to the various communities that use it.

One way we will do this is through a new series of face-to-face and online events called Pulse Internet Measurement Forums. These forums provide an opportunity to learn about the multiple projects measuring the development and resilience of the Internet and how you can use the data they openly provide for your research and reports on the challenges and opportunities for growing and securing the Internet.

The first Pulse Internet Measurement Forum (PIMF) will be held at APRICOT 2025 on 24 February 2025. For more information, see the event page.

We are planning four more face-to-face forums and a host of online forums, including our Pulse Journalist Seminars on Internet Shutdowns. Email us at [email protected] if you’re interested in hosting, partnering, sponsorship, and presenting opportunities.
