The Internet Governance Forum (IGF) 2021 took place from 6-10 December, 2021. The Pulse team gave a lighting talk on Internet Resilience and Internet Shutdowns.

This short session offered a brief overview of the Internet Society Pulse platform and the data presented on it. There was discussion on how the Internet Society Internet Resilience (IRI) Index helps to show how robust a country’s Internet offering is and how the data presented can help national policy makers and service providers to identify areas for improvement.

An overview of Pulse’s curated archive of data on Internet shutdown events was given, and participants discussed how this creates more transparency around artificial Internet disruptions and can help stakeholders assess the impact of disruptions and they help to promote accountability.
