Data and Analysis
Internet access across Guinea was reportedly disrupted on October 23 as results of the presidential elections were announced. Political tensions turned violent after the polls on October 18, as the opposition claimed victory ahead of the official results. Public demonstrations began earlier this year after the government changed the constitution through a national referendum in March, allowing President Alpha Conde, in power since 2010, to run for a third term.
The government did not provide an explanation for the shutdown.
