Taiwan was ranked sixth out of 70 countries and first in Asia in the Freedom on the Net report published by the nonprofit Freedom House on Wednesday.
The report assessed internet freedom based on data collected between June 2022 and May 2023 regarding obstacles people faced in accessing the internet, banned content and violations of user rights.
Taiwan scored 78 out of 100, putting it sixth. Iceland came in first (94) for the fifth year straight, followed by Estonia (93), Canada (88), Costa Rica (85) and the United Kingdom (79).
