Assam State authorities ordered mobile Internet services to be suspended across all 35 districts on 29 September 2024, between 8:30 and 16:30 (local time) to avoid malpractice during government recruitment examinations. These orders are stricter than those given two weeks prior for similar exams in the state, where only 28 of 35 districts were affected for 3.5 hours
As we have repeatedly written about here on Pulse, Internet shutdowns cause great harm to a countryβs economy and society and are in our opinion not the appropriate mechanism to cope with potential exam cheating
