Country Report
Indonesia
Indonesia’s Internet indicators rank lower than most of its South East Asia neighbors though are commendable given the size and spread of its population — more than 270,000 million people live across 6,000 habitated islands. Its high number of Internet Exchange Points (IXPs) (ranked first in Asia) helps offset its poor Transit Provider Diversity though more effort should be made to increase the number of networks peering with these IXPs and each other to help decrease the cost of international transit charges and effects when these links go down. Its excellent ISP diversity bodes well for connecting the nearly 40% of the population that is not using the Internet. The Top Level Domain, .id, is secured even though no local web content supports DNSSEC.
