Las autoridades han ordenado suspender los servicios de Internet móvil en el distrito de Nuh, en Haryana, tras los enfrentamientos comunales. Se emitieron órdenes consecuentes para ampliar la suspensión hasta los días 8, 11 y 13 de agosto de 2023. La administración de Nuh dijo en un comunicado oficial: "Con el fin de detener la propagación de desinformación y rumores a través de diversas plataformas de medios sociales, como WhatsApp, Facebook Twitter, etc. en los teléfonos móviles y SMS, para la facilitación y la movilización de turbas de agitadores y manifestantes que pueden causar graves pérdidas de vidas y daños a propiedades públicas y privadas por entregarse a incendios provocados o vandalismo y otros tipos de actividades violentas." Según Wikipedia, el distrito de Nuh (antes conocido como distrito de Mewat) es uno de los 22 distritos del estado indio de Haryana. Tenía una población de 1,09 millones de habitantes en 2011. Los cortes de Internet durante las protestas o los disturbios civiles afectan a la capacidad de los ciudadanos para obtener información precisa de las fuentes gubernamentales cuando más la necesitan. También se hace más difícil para los ciudadanos ponerse en contacto con familiares y amigos en otras partes del país, o en otros países.
