Authorities in West Bengal ordered local Internet service providers to suspend Internet services in Jangipur, Murshidabad, and Malda from 8 April 2025, 18:00 local time until 11 April 2025, 18:00 local time.
Local impact
The orders are a part of a wider imposed curfew that was reportedly issued in response to violence during a protest against the Waqf (Amendment) Act. There are unconfirmed reports that the Internet is parts of Jangipur, Murshidabad, Malda, and Birbhum remained suspended untill 22:00 on 15 April 2025.
