On January 26, 2021, the Indian government ordered a regional internet shutdown in Ghazipur, Singhu, Tikri, Mukarba Chowk, Nangloi, and adjoining areas along the Delhi-Uttar Pradesh border. This measure was implemented in response to violent clashes during the farmers' tractor rally on India's Republic Day, where protesters clashed with police and damaged public property. The Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) stated that the suspension was necessary to prevent the misuse of telecom services for coordinating violence or spreading false information. The order covered a broad area, including key protest sites, to curb potential unrest.
