Several persons were injured when security forces fired pellets, burst teargas shells and resorted to lathicharge to disperse demonstrators who were trying to disrupt Cordon and Search Operation (CASO) against militants in south Kashmir district of Shopian. A soldier was martyred and another was injured in the encounter with militants which was going on when the reports last came in. Internet mobile service has been suspended in Shopian as a precautionary measure to prevent rumours
