Local authorities in Bihar's Jamui region ordered Internet services to be suspended for 48 hours following communal unrest, beginning on February 16, 2025. The order was issued as a preventive measure to curb the spread of rumors and control communal unrest that erupted in the Jhajha area after a clash broke out between a religious group and local community members during a religious procession.

Speaking to The Hindu, District Magistrate of Jamui, Abhilasha Sharma, said the orders were given as a "preventative measure".
