National shutdown
Internet access across Guinea was reportedly disrupted on 23 October following the announcement of presidential elections.
Local impact
Political tensions turned violent after the polls on 18 October as the opposition claimed victory ahead of the official results. Public demonstrations began earlier this year after the government changed the constitution through a national referendum in March, allowing President Alpha Conde, in power since 2010, to run for a third term.
Related documentation
The government did not provide an explanation for the shutdown.
