On January 4, 2020, a localized internet shutdown was reported in Hyderabad, India, during the "Million March" organized against the CAA, NRC, and NPR. The disruption specifically targeted the protest venues, including Dharna Chowk and the Tank Bund area, where hundreds of thousands of citizens gathered to voice their opposition to the central government's legislative initiatives.

The blackout aimed to limit real-time communication and digital broadcasting by social activists and influencers present at the massive peaceful gathering. Despite the communication restrictions, the event saw a record turnout of over 5 lakh participants, characterized by a secular and inclusive atmosphere where diverse religious and social groups joined in symbolic solidarity against the proposed laws.
