Rajasthan

Internet suspended in Rajasthan, 28 February 2023.

Authorities in the state of Rajasthan ordered a localized suspension of mobile internet and SMS services in three subdivisions (tehsils) of the Bharatpur district bordering the state of Haryana. The shutdown was implemented following heightened communal tensions after the high-profile killing of two men, Nasir and Junaid, whose bodies were discovered in a burnt vehicle in Haryana.

The measure was taken as a preemptive action to prevent the circulation of inflammatory content and rumors on social media platforms that could lead to further mobilization or inter-community clashes in the sensitive border region.
