On May 18-19, 2020, an encounter in Nawakadal area, Srinagar (Jammu & Kashmir), resulted in the killing of two militants and left a security personnel injured. The operation began late on May 18, following intelligence inputs about militant presence in the area. As a precautionary measure, mobile internet and telephony services were suspended in Srinagar, except for BSNL postpaid connections. This suspension is a common practice during security operations in the region to prevent the spread of misinformation and potential unrest.
