Understanding Your Rights Starts With Measuring What's Wrong @ RightsCon 2026
We measure things for many reasons, one of which is to establish a baseline and then see how this changes when we implement new policies, standards, technologies, systems, or infrastructure. In the realm of digital and consumer rights, such measurements are critical for empowering Internet users to call out those who are failing them.

This session will explore the challenges and opportunities of measuring the Internet and its users' rights, and refine several research proposals to address gaps in our current capabilities and understanding.
Those who plan on participating can share their research questions and examples in advance for consideration during the session.
Based on discussions during the session, we will focus on a collective research question that will serve as the basis for a project to be carried out and reported on at RightsCon 2027.
