Talanoa Dialogue: Talking the Pulse of the Pacific’s Internet Resilience

Join this Day-0 event of the National Conference on Information Technology 2026 to explore the challenges and opportunities of measuring and strengthening the Pacific’s Internet resilience and propose several research proposals to address gaps in our current capabilities and understanding.

Details

This workshop addresses the critical gap between raw data collection and strategic execution, empowering stakeholders to turn Internet measurement into actionable resilience.

Our aim is to develop 2-3 collective research questions that will serve as the basis for a project to be carried out by regional researchers and supporting partners between 2027 and 2030. Collectively, we will:

  • Identify the Gaps: Analyze why current measurement frameworks often fail to trigger timely policy or operational actions.
  • Build the Roadmap: Collaborative drafting of a strategic framework that outlines the tools, policies, and partnerships required to move from reactive troubleshooting to proactive resilience building.
  • Driving Action: Develop relationships and commitment towards a shared cause to strengthen and secure the region’s Internet.

Who should attend

  • Policy Makers and Advocates: Regulators, ministerial advisors, digital equity and public interest advocates.
  • Industry leaders: Managers, CTOs, network operators
  • Researchers: Technical consultants, data analysts
