The Internet Society is hosting the second edition of Pulse Research Week, a four-day forum that brings together Internet Society Pulse Research fellows and mentors, data and research partners, academics, and technologists to discuss ongoing research projects and future collaboration opportunities.

Unlike traditional conferences, Pulse Research Week emphasizes workshops, collaborative research development, and practical outcomes, enabling participants to collectively address questions that require multidisciplinary expertise and sustained engagement, including:

  • Internet resilience and infrastructure measurement
  • Sustainable peering ecosystems
  • Mapping subsea and terrestrial backbone infrastructure
  • Resilience of content delivery networks (CDNs)
  • Connectivity in underserved and rural regions
  • Sustainability of Internet measurement data and research
  • Emerging challenges affecting Internet performance and accessibility

Afternoon: Attendees will work in groups to discuss and develop a research plan to address an Internet resilience challenge.

Afternoon: Attendees will present their plans and discuss which should be prioritized.

[Day 3] Peering Research Day

This workshop explores the latest research and operational advancements in Internet peering to enhance data exchange efficiency, network interconnection, and global routing stability. You will:

  • Hear from IXP managers were peering is making an impact on their country's Internet performance and resilience
  • Learn about recent research into the economics and sustainability of peering
  • Identify and triage peering challenges
  • Develop and discuss research priorities

[Day 4] Internet Data Trust Workshop

Following on from last year's inaugural IDT workshop, participants will learn how the IDT project has progressed and, again, brainstorm points of intersection and identify forms of support that would be most useful to member institutions in ensuring the long-term sustainability of a community preservation effort.
