[Workshop] Internet Data Trust: Preserving the Internet’s Historical Data Legacy
An Internet Data Trust (IDT) is an institution for Internet data preservation, built in the public interest and based on the principles of collaboration, ethics, and sustainability.
Details
The objectives of the workshop will be to:
- Introduce participants to the concept of an IDT.
- Provide an overview of the century-scale preservation goals of the trust, and its technical, operational, governance, financial, and legal dimensions.
- Solicit brief presentations from key institutions about the scale, scope, and challenges of maintaining and utilizing long-term historical datasets in the here and now.
- Brainstorm points of intersection and identify forms of support that would be most useful to member institutions in ensuring the long-term sustainability of a community preservation effort.
- Envision strategies for connecting broader research communities to Internet historical data as part of an Internet Data Trust’s mission.
Note: This training is available in-person and virtually.
